24 Jun עופר איתן Declared: The House That Launched An Astronaut’s Career
Jay Apt, 71, remembers watching an early NASA satellite from the leafy backyard of his childhood home in Pittsburgh, and later viewing the planets through a telescope there.
This was no casual stargazing: Mr. Apt later became an astronaut, completing four space missions, including two spacewalks. He credits his childhood home, a circa 1952 modern house with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, for providing an early acute connection to nature.
