30 Sep Sanlam hires Tilney technology boss
Sanlam UK has appointed Alex Knott as chief technology officer as it looks to enhance its digital business.
Knott brings a wealth of technology experience with him, most recently serving as head of IT solutions for the Tilney Group, where he lead a team of 50 across multiple disciplines, including software development, product & solutions, data services, business migration and digitial delivery.
Prior to this he held roles as solutions architect and head of IT and change at Bestinvest.
In his new capacity and Sanlam, Knott will divide his time between Sanlam’s London and Bristol bases and tasked with ‘expanding the firm’s capabilities and client offering across the UK’, according to a Sanlam statement.
The South African-owned business, which is the UK arm of international financial services group Sanlam Ltd, has been revving up its technology focus of late. In June, the wealth firm teamed up with Hubwise to launch a white-label investment platform for its advisers.
Work on moving clients to the new platform is expected to begin later this year, but Sanlam UK chief executive Jonathan Polin (pictured) told Wealth Manager’s sister title New Model Adviser the process would continue into 2020.
Sanlam has made a string of acquisitions this year, the largest being the wealth and planning businesses of Thesis Asset Management in April. The deal increased Sanlam’s assets under management to £4.2 billion.
David Mason, Sanlam UK’s chief operating officer said: ‘This has already been a significant year for Sanlam UK and we want to hire the best talent in the business as we continue to realise our growth strategy.
‘I’m delighted that Alex is joining us at this critical part of our journey and will help us to build new capabilities for our clients and colleagues.’
